This is my Fix

Yesterday, I took a blade
Against my callused skin
In hopes that all my blood would prove
That I could feel again
But all that I could comprehend
Was numbness deep within my skin
And maybe in the bitter end
I’ll have an answer for this sin

But ‘til the day that I lament
I’ll see this as a heaven sent
A freedom call, a swift release
From which I get my fix of peace

It seems so sad, so sorrowful
That I could feel this horrible
And take that sharpened razor pain
And just as sharply stand there slain
But drift so far in my abyss
To where I know not what I miss
They claim that “ignorance is bliss”
Well give me mine, this is my fix
